There really are perimeters - Aug 31, 2008

Came into the office this afternoon. I took Shepard Road to Sibley. Left onto 6th. Only four people in Mears Park, so no one is wandering pass the perimeter yet. It took 15 minutes to get from Sibley and 6th into the 5th Street Lawson Parking Ramp. Don't believe the no stopping, no parking on St. Peter Street - gawkers, taxis, charter buses all parked on St. Peter.

There are actual perimeter fences across 6th Street with MN State Highway Patrol guarding the "fence". First Fence is on Washington, second is at West 7th and third one is on Main Street.

I'm going to see how far I can stroll within the perimeter. See lots of police, but no protesters only tourists, media and looker-on's like me.
Capitalism is alive and well in downtown St. Paul. CandyLand raised the price on all sizes of popcorn. And the Lawson ramp went from a $9 prepay to a $15 prepay fee this afternoon. The store formerly known as Dayton's was dead. I purchased a yogurt in their deli and the workers were all bored out of their minds. And.... The Original Coney Island is open for business but no coney's as of Sunday afternoon.
